Five camps have changed: Ngorongoro Crater Camp, on its hillside site in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area overlooking the Serengeti plains, relocated, Ikuka added a family room, and Kuria Hills Lodge, Nyasi and Warangi Ridge were refreshed. Two are still to come: Ngorongoro Explorer, due June 2027, and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (reopens January 2027).

Seven camps in our Tanzania collection have news for the 2026/27 season. Each row was read on the operator's own page or announcement, and the date we read it is shown. This is what we found on the check date, not a list of every change in Tanzania.
Note on Ngorongoro Crater Lodge: the month is the reopening target we plan around; the operator page says 2027.

Which Tanzania camps have already changed?
Ngorongoro Crater Camp has moved to a new hillside site in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with views over the Serengeti plains, according to its operator's announcement. Its operator says the camp sits about 25 minutes from the crater descent road, has ten tented suites and suits both fly-in and overland routes. We compare the new access times with your route before the camp enters a proposal.
Ikuka Safari Camp in Ruaha National Park opened Nane on 10 September 2026, according to the camp's own announcement. Nane is its eighth room and second family room: a duplex unit that sleeps up to five, with a double bed downstairs, a twin or triple upstairs and a private plunge pool overlooking the Mwagusi River valley. Ikuka says couples can also stay in it.
Kuria Hills Lodge in the northern Serengeti has completed a renovation, according to its operator. It added a two-bedroom family suite with a private plunge pool on the site of the former spa, relocated the spa, and redesigned and extended the main dining tent. The operator says the work was done during the lodge's annual March to May closure and the suite is now open for booking.
Nyasi, in the Lamai Wedge of the northern Serengeti, has been fully refurbished, according to its operator. It added a gym tent and a spa tent, and its tents now stand on raised wooden decks. The announcement gives no reopening date, so we confirm the camp's status for your dates before it enters a proposal.
Warangi Ridge, in the central Serengeti, has launched Asili, a spa and wellness concept, according to its operator's announcement of 9 July 2026. The announcement describes a tented spa, a yoga deck, guided meditation and a gym. Warangi Ridge's own page lists the gym and in-room spa treatments at additional cost.

Which Tanzania lodges are still to come?
Ngorongoro Explorer is a new lodge on the north-eastern rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Its operator says it opens in June 2027 and lists 84 rooms on its own property page. It is not open today, so we do not plan guests into it before that month, and we reconfirm the date before any proposal because opening dates can move.
The lodge's own page says Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is closed for an extensive rebuild and will reopen in 2027. The reopening target we plan around is January 2027. A target is not an opening: until the operator confirms that guests are being welcomed, we plan crater stays around other properties, and we update this page when the lodge reopens.

What do these changes mean for your route?
Crater stays before June 2027
Ngorongoro Explorer is not an option, and Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is not one until it has reopened and been confirmed. Ngorongoro Crater Camp, on its hillside site in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area overlooking the Serengeti plains, is open.
Access to the new Ngorongoro Crater Camp site
The operator lists light aircraft access, with a 2 hour drive from Manyara Airstrip or 1 hour 20 minutes from Ndutu Airstrip. We check that against the rest of your route.
Families
Ikuka in Ruaha now has two family rooms and Kuria Hills Lodge in the northern Serengeti has a two-bedroom suite, according to the operators. Tell us your party, ages and rooming, and we confirm the room type at booking.
Northern Serengeti
Nyasi has been refurbished but has no stated reopening date in the announcement, so ask us to confirm its status for your dates.
Anything after January 2027
Ask us to recheck. The rebuilt Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (reopens January 2027) and the new Explorer lodge may change how we shape the crater chapter.
