The full profile
Read the stay beyond the name.
Every recommendation is shaped around the real room, atmosphere, experiences and logistics, not reputation alone.
01Accommodation & suites
Five thatched cottages contain six bedrooms in total. Four cottages have a king bedroom and en-suite bathroom. The family cottage has one double and one twin bedroom, each en suite, with separate entrances rather than an interconnecting door. One cottage also has a bath and an outdoor shower. Request the particular layout you need when checking availability.
02Atmosphere
The lawns, terrace and shared sitting room give Kifaru the feel of a small country house in a wildlife landscape. There is a library, and fireplaces serve the lounge and dining room on cool evenings. Views extend across the plains, while the waterhole below offers another reason to leave time in the day for staying at the house.
03Experiences
Shared game drives explore Lewa in open-sided vehicles. Guided walks introduce the smaller details of the conservancy, and the Game Package includes a visit behind the scenes at conservancy headquarters. Horse or camel outings and visits to Ngare Ndare Forest are separate options. Horse riding requires suitable experience, and activities depend on availability, weather and the guide's assessment.
04Dining & wellness
The main dining room opens onto a furnished terrace, where breakfast can be taken outside. Bush meals and sundowners are also part of the Game Package, subject to minimum numbers and arrangements. Between outings, the infinity pool and shaded poolside seating provide a comfortable pause. Discuss dietary requirements before booking so the team can confirm what it can accommodate.
05Family suitability
The two-bedroom cottage can work for a family, but the bedrooms do not interconnect and each has its own entrance. That detail matters with younger children. The published Family Suite rate has a specific two-adult, two-child basis. Supplied horse and camel safari terms set a minimum age of 12; guided walks have stricter age and guide-discretion rules.
06Access
Scheduled flights or a private charter can use Lewa Main Airstrip, followed by a camp transfer. Elewana describes a drive of about 15 minutes from the airstrip. Road arrivals require coordination: Lewa allows only authorised vehicles inside the conservancy, and visitors arriving by road are collected at conservancy headquarters. Confirm the collection plan alongside the flight or road itinerary.
