Plan with a clearer frame

Season, party size and the shape of the investment.

Best fit. Time-poor first-time primate travellers who want the encounter without a week around it.

Choose another route when. Choose Volcanoes Intimate for a third night beneath the volcanoes, or One Perfect Week to add the lake.

Green seasonMarch to May and October to November

Rich forest colour and selected availability advantages, with trail and transfer conditions checked closely.

The private vehicle, guide and fixed route costs are shared by two, so the per-person investment is usually highest.Four travellers usually create the clearest private-journey efficiency while preserving one vehicle and a close group dynamic.Six travellers can share more fixed costs, subject to luggage, room mix and whether one or two vehicles best protect comfort.
Shoulder seasonFebruary, June and early December

A balanced window for the volcanoes and the wider circuit, subject to permit and room availability.

Peak seasonJuly to September and festive dates

Strong demand across Volcanoes and the high-character lodges; permit and room decisions lead the proposal.

The shape of the journey

Why this route works.

Unhurried, with a single purpose

  1. Two nights in the volcanoes hold the trek morning properly: arrive, sleep, trek, breathe.
  2. Kigali at either end protects the international connections and adds context before the encounter.
  3. The short length makes it the right add-on after a Kenya or Tanzania safari, or a stand-alone long weekend.

Signature Sail moments

  • The Kigali Genocide Memorial, paced with respect
  • Gorilla trek with a porter and a ranger briefing

Day by day

The considered route.

01

Day 1 · Kigali

Context before landscape

Kigali is met first as a city, not a transit point. Where timing allows, a visit to the Genocide Memorial is paced with care and followed by quiet. The handover to the road north is precise, and the first evening stays unhurried.

02

Days 2 to 3 · Volcanoes

Two nights, one trek

Two nights hold the trek morning properly: arrive, sleep, trek, breathe. The allocation happens on the morning itself and the pace of the walk follows the group.

03

Day 4 · Kigali

A composed return to Kigali

The last night is protected in Kigali so the international connection never depends on a mountain road in the dark. There is time for a final meal, a gallery or nothing at all.

04

Day 5 · Departure

Return with care

A private transfer to the airport with time in hand. International departure timing is checked against the live schedule before anything is confirmed.

Two expressions, one journey

The same route, in two registers of address.

The Most Exclusive Addresses and the Distinguished Camps and Lodges preserve the same route, purpose and Sail operating standard. The expression changes the addresses, never the soul of the journey. Every property is a current decision set, not guaranteed inventory; availability, opening and access are confirmed live.

A Sail planning perspective

A starting point, never a fixed package.

Allocation to a gorilla family happens on the morning of the trek and cannot be chosen in advance. The road from Kigali is under three hours, so no flights are needed inside Rwanda.

Every final journey is built around confirmed availability, the current season, your preferred pace and the character of places you want to stay. No fixed departure or price is implied by this sample.
