Kibale, the primate forest
Kibale is where Uganda's chimpanzee story is strongest: a great mid-altitude forest with well-habituated communities, tracking run from the Kanyanchu centre, and the longer habituation product where the authority offers it. Encounter likelihood is the highest of the three, and the supporting cast of primates is unmatched.
Its cost is geographic: Kibale sits on its own axis, pairing naturally with crater country and Queen Elizabeth beyond, and it asks the route to come to it. Journeys that treat chimpanzees as a headline rather than a footnote almost always find the detour worth it.

Kyambura, the dramatic gorge
Kyambura is unlike anywhere else in the region: a deep green gash in the Queen Elizabeth savannah, rainforest hidden below plains level, entered on foot down steep trails. As a walk it is worth the morning on its own terms; the gorge itself is the spectacle.
Its chimpanzee community is small, and finding it is genuinely less certain than a Kibale morning: an honest itinerary says so in plain words. Guests briefed that way come back delighted either way; guests promised chimpanzees grade the gorge unfairly for keeping its own counsel.

Kalinzu, the practical reserve
Kalinzu Forest Reserve sits conveniently for the Queen Elizabeth chapter and runs its own tracking under its own arrangements, typically with friendlier logistics than a full Kibale repositioning. For a route whose spine is the savannah and the Kazinga Channel, it is the sensible chimpanzee morning.
It is also simply a fine forest walk, with the reserve's own character and birdlife. What it is not is Kibale with a discount, and the proposals that describe it honestly, a practical tracking morning serving this route's shape, are the ones whose guests rate it well.

The chooser is never the price list; it is the journey's spine. A primate-led file, or one pairing chimpanzees with a gorilla trek as the twin peaks, earns Kibale and builds around it.
