Plan with a clearer frame

Season, party size and the shape of the investment.

Best fit. Returning Africa travellers and slow-safari travellers who want space, walking and water more than famous names.

Choose another route when. Choose Walking Wild if walking is the priority and the coast is not, or The Classic, Unhurried for a first Tanzania safari.

Green seasonSelected March to May and November dates

Lush landscapes, dramatic skies and greater flexibility, with rain and track conditions designed into the day.

Shoulder seasonJanuary to February and selected June dates

Wildlife depth and camp choice outside the principal crossing months, with calving on the southern plains.

Peak seasonJuly to October and festive dates

Highest camp and flight demand; the Serengeti sector is chosen by month, without promising a crossing.

The shape of the journey

Why this route works.

Unhurried and quiet, with three flights and no roads between chapters

  1. Nyerere changes the medium of safari, river and foot as well as vehicle, before Ruaha adds scale and predators.
  2. Four nights in Ruaha give the south's largest park the time it needs; it is not a place to visit briefly.
  3. The coast is a release, two nights of dependable swimming, rather than a second holiday grafted on.

Signature Sail moments

  • A boat safari on the Rufiji
  • Full-day game drives in Ruaha
  • Arrival straight to the sand

Day by day

The considered route.

01

Days 1 to 3 · Nyerere

River, foot and southern space

Nyerere changes the medium of safari: boats on the Rufiji among hippo and crocodile, walking with an armed ranger, and broad southern space without the northern traffic. Three nights give the river its rhythm.

02

Days 4 to 7 · Ruaha

Baobab country and the quiet scale of the south

Ruaha is deeper and quieter: baobab escarpments, the Great Ruaha river in the dry season and strong predator dynamics. Four nights allow full-day drives and, where the camp offers it, walking that changes the scale of the place.

03

Days 8 to 9 · Zanzibar north coast

The exhale on the north coast

The north coast is chosen for dependable swimming and little scheduling: the tide matters less here, the water is at the door, and the days ask nothing. Stone Town, a reef morning or a dhow at dusk can be added, never imposed.

04

Day 10 · Departure

Return with care

The journey closes with the Ruaha to Zanzibar flight and a private transfer to the international departure, timed with margin rather than haste.

Two expressions, one journey

The same route, in two registers of address.

The Most Exclusive Addresses and the Distinguished Camps and Lodges preserve the same route, purpose and Sail operating standard. The expression changes the addresses, never the soul of the journey. Every property is a current decision set, not guaranteed inventory; availability, opening and access are confirmed live.

A Sail planning perspective

A starting point, never a fixed package.

Southern circuit flights run on fixed schedules with strict baggage limits, and both parks are best from June to November when the rivers draw the game. Sail confirms the air rhythm before the lodges.

Every final journey is built around confirmed availability, the current season, your preferred pace and the character of places you want to stay. No fixed departure or price is implied by this sample.
